Why subscribe?

I rarely am short on stories to share about my life. Here are some highlights…

I am the child of a single parent. My mom put herself through nursing school while I was in elementary school.

When I wasn’t kickin’ it at the nurses’ station, I was on my grandparents farm, helping my grandfather watch for groundhogs trying to steal soy beans, or playing badminton with my grandma.

I went to a fundamentalist bible college. I broke rules that weren’t rules yet, and had a rule added to the rule book in my honor.

I was a music minister for a while.

I left religion completely and went back to school to get my MBA and MPH.

I worked for an anatomic and clinical pathology company.

I’ve lived in 6 states.

I went from being a full-on scared of hell, fire, and brimstone to an atheist, liberal, lesbian. And I don’t think I’m done changing.

In 2020, COVID-19 hit. As someone educated in Public Health, I became a resource to friends on understanding the pandemic. I lost friends, too.

My father-in-law died of COVID.

My wife and I took in a 10 year old that wasn’t related to us. We thought it might be temporary, but it wasn’t. We are now parents of said 10 (now 11) year old.

I will die on the hill for the Oxford comma and double spacing between sentences.
